Having lost one-nil to Limerick in the League Cup on Easter Monday, Waterford United were hoping for better luck on Friday last when they played the Shannonsiders in what was a vital league game for both clubs.
Pat Scully’s team had a two-point advantage over Stephen Henderson’s outfit prior to the contest, but following the 90-plus minutes Waterford’s recent record reads four defeats in six games, leaving them in the wrong end of the league table (seventh, seven points behind second-placed Cork City).
