A senior government minister-in-waiting and two of his Fine Gael colleagues this week welcomed a ‘breakthrough for Third Level education in the South East’ following the inclusion in the Coalition’s Programme for Government of a commitment to ‘explore the establishment of a multi-campus University in the South East’.
Deputy Phil Hogan, who is tipped to be the new Minister for the Environment, Deputy Paudie Coffey and Deputy John Paul Phelan all welcomed the move. Deputy Hogan said he envisaged a ‘multi-campus Technical University’ and called on the existing Third Level colleges in the region (Waterford and Carlow) to advance the proposal.
Great news. All they need to do now is create jobs for our future graduates?
