Bríd Power as Kathleen, the girl in the office in the coal yard beside the Suir brings attraction, sexual desire and dance hall glamour to the lives of four men in Stagemad’s production of banshee Makers at Garter Lane Arts Centre. Her lecherous offstage boss Bolicky, her secret lover, the already married Charlie, Nix the wise-cracking ne’er do well driver with a taste for whiskey and Scooter, the fooleen away-for-slates who is probably already drowned before the play starts.

The play reeks of disappointment, lost lives and lost opportunities, as author Ger Bourke allows the play to some across as dated with references to TV detectives Mannix and Cannon. You need to Google these names to see how dated the work seems.
