Newly released figures reveal the number of students from the Leaving Certificate year of 2010 in each school across the country that entered third level education.
The compilation was sourced from the administrative offices of third level institutions and was published in last week’s national newspapers.
Similarly to other locations in the country, the figures reveal that geography plays an important part for Waterford students in making the decision of where to study.
From the 1310 students that sat the Leaving Certificate in Waterford schools this year, 452 chose to study at Waterford Institute of Technology.
The next most popular location was University College Cork, with 188 Waterford students.
According to the figures, all students who sat the Leaving Certificate in the fee-paying Newtown School (41 students) and at CBS Mount Sion (24 students), went onto third level.
