Carrick United have gone five points clear of the chasing pack following this victory over second-placed Tramore in Tom Drohan Park on Sunday last.
The only goal of a disappointing contest came on 17 minutes when Keith Walsh headed home a left wing cross from Anthony Power. Thomas Fitzgerald, the ace Carrick striker, had to be taken to hospital with a bad knee injury after half an hour.
The only time Tramore came close to scoring was from a David Grincell free kick in the second half which came back off the woodwork.
