Piltown produced the shock of the FAI Junior Cup third-round games when they defeated Premier League outfit Hibernians 3-0 on Friday night in Piltown.
Alan Walsh opened the scoring after 24 minutes and Gerry Walsh made it 2-0 five minutes later. The expected fightback from the visitors never came and Alan Walsh scored again after 76 minutes to complete a super result for the home side.
Former champions Carrick United were not at their best in Tom Drohan Park on Sunday against a patched-up Southend United team but nevertheless they came out on top courtesy of a Thomas Fitzgerald goal after half an hour.
Tramore defeated St Saviour’s 2-1 in Graun Park on Saturday night. Two goals from Christopher Grace on 12 and 40 minutes had the seasiders leading at the break.
