It’s fair to say that there’s no one alive on this earth who can compare with the remarkable Sir Ranulph Fiennes, who tops the bill at next weekend’s Immrama Festival of Travel Writing in Lismore.
Declared the world’s greatest living explorer by the Guinness Book of Records, Sir Ranulph’s feats have justly earned him a place in the lore of exploration alongside luminaries including Ernest Shackleton and Tom Crean.
His lust for life and enormous sense of adventure is superbly captured in his autobiography ‘Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know’ in which he catalogues his many life-endangering journeys with great clarity and poignancy.
Next Saturday afternoon at Blackwater Community College at 3pm, Sir Ranulph will recall many of his remarkable journeys in what should prove a spellbinding 90 minutes.
