Brian-Dignam

Brian Dignam scored two of Carrick-on-Suir's three tries during their victory over Dungarvan on Sunday.

Carrick-on-Suir maintained their 100 per cent start to the new league season with a 19-5 win over Dungarvan in Ballyrandle on Sunday.
Tries from Willie Stokes and a brace from Brian Dignam left Carrick just short of securing the additional bonus point, leaving them second behind Fermoy who defeated Shandon 25-10.
Two conversions from James Wallace added to the Carrick scoring total and they’ll aim to maintain their winning ways in next Sunday’s O’Sullivan Cup final against Mallow in Fermoy (kick-off: 2.30pm).
Their final opponents secured their first win of the campaign thanks to a hard-fought 15-10 win over Waterford City in Mallow with the manner of the game suggesting a real promotion dogfight in the offing.
Tries from Ray Roche and Len Browne, along with a conversion by Brian Morris secured victory from Mallow, but City did at least have the consolation of a losing bonus point.
Alex Fitzmaurice’s try, converted by Aaron Foskin (who also landed a penalty) meant the Kilbarry men didn’t face the long trip home empty handed.
