Carrick United 4; Tramore 1
Carrick United gained sweet revenge over Tramore in the Premier Ardagh Cup Semi-Final on Monday when whey ran out easy winners against the team who defeated them in a Premier League play-off on Sunday week last.
Tramore won that game on a penalty shoot-out but on this occasion, also in Ozier Park, the seasiders were outclassed by a Carrick outfit who were determined to set up a decider with Waterford Crystal on Wednesday week.
Adam McSharry scored two wonderful free kicks within the space of two minutes in the first half. He scored from 25 yards on 34 minutes with his left foot, finding the bottom right hand corner of the net. Two minutes later he repeated the trick and again it was his trusted left foot which left the Tramore goalkeeper A.J. Murray clawing thin air.
Eoin Burke made it 3-0 on 50 minutes with a low strike from just outside the penalty area. Leigh Quilty did give Tramore a glimmer of hope on 72 minutes, also with a free kick from 25 yards, but Carrick had the last word with Ian Cleary rounding Murray in the last minute before placing the ball into an empty net.
The Ozier Park clash between Carrick and Crystal will attract a large crowd because in recent years games between the two clubs have proved to be feisty affairs.
