Waterford Labour Deputy Brian O’Shea has been informed by Mr Brendan Ryan, the new Chief Executive of Courts Service, that the necessary funding will be made available for the provision of CCTV in the grounds of Waterford Courthouse and that he has instructed the relevant personnel to proceed with the project.

Deputy O’Shea had previously been informed by Mr Ryan that the move was under consideration.

Staff from the Courts Service had met with the service provider who is installing Waterford City Council’s CCTV System. The staff had also spoken to the Gardai about linking some of the Courts Service cameras to the Gardai Monitoring System.

The Gardai had agreed that some of the Courts Service Cameras can be linked to their system for monitoring purpose.

Deputy O’Shea said he looked forward to the CCTV system being installed “at an early date”.
