Speculation is rife in Kilmacthomas as to the identity of a lucky local couple who won €0.5m in the Euromillions Plus Lotto draw last Monday week.
The delighted winners, who are remaining anonymous, collected their cheque last Thursday at the National Lottery offices in Dublin. The middle-aged couple chose their numbers based on birthday months in the family and mainly on the husband’s football days (when he started playing and finished). They bought their lucky €12 ticket in Eoins Shop, Main Street, Kilmac’.
“We are so excited by our win,” said the husband. “It is so nice to have this safety net now that we know the money is there. I was watching the show as the numbers were being called out and turned to my wife and jokingly told her she could retire now!”
The couple have no immediate plans for their money just to “pay off bills and see what happens after that.”
