Brewery Lane Theatre are hosting a “supper theatre” event on 10 Fri and 11 Saturday October and the following weekend 17th and 18th October at their bijou venue in Carrick-on-Suir. They will serve food at 8.15pm each evening in their fine backroom and rehearsal space and then present the play – a new Russian play by Furgad, with the unappetising title of A Place With The Pigs. Wonder will there be borst and bacon on the table?

This play is a dramatisation of a true story of a deserter from the Russian army during World War II who returns to his native village and chooses to live secretly in a pigsty rather than face the retribution of his patriotic neighbours. His wife supports his position but there are other obstacles to overcome.

It is exciting to see that up-and-coming director, Enda O’Driscoll, will direct this production. I saw a Neil La Bute play he directed in Lismore last year and he is a thespian with style and love of theatre.

Catering will be by West Gate CafŽ.
