On Sunday next with a 12 noon sharp start from the R.S.C. the Munster Express / Caulfields Super Valu 10km Road Race and Fun Run or Walk will be a big attraction in the city.  An entry form is in this week’s edition at the Munster and there are various categories.

Once again only those officially registered to compete in the event are covered by the race insurance, anyone else who decides to participate do so at their own risk. The route is R.S.C. on the Cork Road, turn right at gate of the R.S.C. in to Tower Hotel, turn right out Dunmore Road to Hospital roundabout, over to Farranshoneen roundabout, turn right up to Upper Grange, down John’s Hill, Johnstown turn left at Car Stand ten back out the main road to finish inside the R.S.C.

All-Ireland Woodies D.I.Y.
Half-Marathon

Over 420 competed in the Woodies D.I.Y. National ½ Marathon in the city on Sunday last from clubs all over Ireland. Cillian O’Leary, Raheny Shamrocks was the overall winner in a time of 67 minutes 27 seconds, Sandis Bralitis, West Waterford AC was second in 68.03 and Ravis Zakis his clubmate was third in 68.51. Maria McCambridge, Dundrum South Dublin won the ladies title in 77 minutes 12 seconds, Lucy Daray Sports World was second in 83.22 and Jacqui Carthy, Kilmore Quay was third in 83.38. First man 035 – Peter Fahy, Tullamore, 040 – Pauric McKinney, Letterkenny, 045 – Mick Byrne – Sli Cualainn, 050-Stephen Griffin, Tralee, 055 – Pat O’Shea, Iveragh, 060 – Martin McEvilly G.C.H., 065 – Christy Creagh, Mullingar, 070 – Joe O’Regan, Slaney. Kilmacow Cross Country

On Sunday September 28th with a 1pm start the annual Kilmacow Open Cross Country will be at the Sports Centre in Kilmacow. Races for boys and girls U8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, Junior men and women, senior ladies 3000m, senior men 8000m, also vets prizes. Team prizes in men’s 8000m, first team in ladies. WLR FM – 10 Miles

Waterford Primary Schools Cross Country

On Thursday September 18th at 4pm at the Clover Centre, Ferrybank the annual Waterford Schools Cross Country event promoted by Ferrybank AC goes ahead. 1st and 2nd class boys and girls have a 200 metres, 3rd and 4th 400 metres and 5th and 6th class an 800 metres.
