Bus Eireann has announced the introduction of 13 new luxury coaches to its south east fleet.
At the launch, Barry Coyle, the company’s Manager of Marketing, Sales and External Communications, said it was part of its on-going investment programme and represented further evidence of a commitment to the highest standard of customer service.
The first of the new coaches will serve the Waterford to Dublin route, which provides ten departures daily through Carlow and four via Enniscorthy.
Present also at the launch was Deputy Mayor of Waterford Jack Walsh and Bus Eireann Board members Tras Honan and Jim Byrne.
The Deputy Mayor said the new coaches would enhance an already excellent service, adding to comfort standards for customers. The new bus fleet would also give tourists and other visitors to the city a positive impression of public transport, which would in turn benefit the economy.
He said Bus Eireann was an excellent employer, providing 230 jobs in the south east, while at the same time investing heavily in local industry, using the services of a wide range of businesses. Additionally, it had close links with voluntary organisations like Children’s Group Link and the Ballybeg Project and supported a range of social and sporting groups as well.
He added that at a time when many firms were cutting back on staffing and investment, it was nice to see Bus Eireann committed to continuing investment in the region.
To celebrate the launch, the winner of Bus Eireann’s recent competition on WLRfm, Ms. Suzanne Halley, of Carrigeen, was presented by Mr. Coyle with a €500 shopping voucher and two free tickets to travel on the Expressway service to Dublin.
