US Ambassador to Ireland Kevin F O'Malley

US Ambassador to Ireland
Kevin F O’Malley will
make his first official visit to
Waterford for the Waterford
Chamber President’s Lunch,
which will take place on
Friday, June 19th in Waterford
Castle.
Ambassador O’Malley will
be the keynote speaker at the
event, which is sponsored
by AIB Bank and is open to
both Chamber members and
non-members.
The existing links between
Waterford and the US are
strong and the message to
Ambassador O’Malley will be
loud and clear – Waterford is
open for business and looking
to expand on its relationship
with the US, offering the very
best in terms of skill, education
and lifestyle.
At the recent Waterford
Chamber AGM, incoming
President Michael O’Dwyer
announced he would be focusing
on a theme of ‘Looking
to the Future – A Time for
Growth and Innovation’ and
Ambassador O’Malley will
offer his own thoughts on the
topic.
Said Mr O’Dwyer: “We are
delighted to welcome Ambassador
O’Malley to Waterford
on what will be his first official
engagement in the city.
We will be sure to showcase
all we have to offer in
Waterford and build a solid
working relationship with the
Ambassador so that we can
strengthen our links with the
US and encourage further
investment in Waterford and
across the region.”
Ambassador O’Malley, a
highly regarded attorney and
Professor of Law, was sworn
in as Ambassador to Ireland
on September 30th, 2014 and
presented his credentials to
President Michael D. Higgins
on October 8th last
Ambassador O’Malley is
known as a talented leader,
expert manager, and forthright
public speaker and recently
received the Award of Honour
of the Lawyers Association
of St. Louis, a recognition
by plaintiffs and defendants
attorneys of his abilities to
resolve conflicts in a courteous
and professional manner.
Before entering private
practice Ambassador
O’Malley was an Assistant
United States Attorney in St.
Louis, Missouri and a Special
Attorney of the Organized
Crime Section of the United
States Department of Justice
in Washington, D.C., Los
Angeles, California and
Phoenix, Arizona.
Ambassador O’Malley
has strong Irish roots. Both
of his parents were Irish and
his paternal grandparents
emigrated from Westport in
County Mayo approximately
one hundred years ago and
he held dual citizenship with
Ireland and the United States
until the confirmation of his
Ambassadorship.
